Pie Snob now open in Downtown Chandler

“Downtown Chandler fits the Pie Snob brand. It has a homegrown, community feel with so much to do and so many unique restaurants. I just love it,” said Traci Wilbur, owner of Pie Snob.
Pie Snob, which offers a variety of homemade pies, cheesecakes, gelato and coffee, is now open in Downtown Chandler. This is the third location in the valley for the company and is nestled next to improvMANIA on Arizona Avenue.
Throughout her childhood, Wilbur would often bake with her mother and grandmother. It was a passion she kept with her, baking on holidays and for fun. When her youngest daughter went off to school, the then stay-at-home-mom decided she wanted to pursue a career again.
“I didn’t want to return to what I was doing or be behind a desk all day in a corporate environment. A friend of mine suggested that I send out an email to friends and family asking if anyone wanted a homemade pie for the holidays,” she explained. “I received maybe a dozen orders, but those people all reordered and told their friends.”
From there, things quickly snowballed and her business skyrocketed thanks to word-of-mouth referrals.
“It wasn’t sustainable to keep baking in my kitchen. I had pies and supplies everywhere in our house,” she said. “My husband is in construction and he was using our shed as his workspace. He actually suggested that we renovate it and zone it to code to become a commercial kitchen.”
It was at this time that she decided to officially take her business to the next level. To do that though, she needed a name. After scrolling the web looking at different pie shops, she saw a common thread in the reviews.
“So many of the reviews started by the person saying, ‘I’m a pie snob…’ and it hit me. That was it. I didn’t even have it to think about it,” said Wilbur.
With her reputation continuing to spread, Wilbur soon outgrew her garage and launched the very first Pie Snob location in Arcadia in 2017. It was near her home and had a close-knit neighborhood feeling. In 2019 the Arcadia location was booming and after looking around the valley, Wilbur chose to open a second location in Uptown Phoenix.
“It was great because we found ourselves needing a bigger kitchen again and the Uptown location has become our primary kitchen for all locations, including Chandler” she said.
The Downtown Chandler location is set open in early April and will feature the same highly coveted menu of fruit pies, cream pies, cheesecake and tarts.
“The menu keeps growing because we keep coming up with new flavors,” Wilbur says with a laugh. “Our most popular flavor is apple, so we have that in every form.”
Individuals can order slices or pre-made pies via walk-in, though subject to availability and the offerings of the day. Pre-orders can also be taken in advance and recommended for holidays.
“We’re excited to be a part of the culture in Downtown Chandler. We want to have relationships with other businesses and add to the appeal of the downtown,” she said.
